At first, an impassioned blog seems somewhat odd to me. Advertising my views for all who know how to read to see? I was not too sure about this, but I decided to give it my best shot, and talk about something that I am very passionate about, after working there for 2 years: Starbucks.
"One Quad Iced Venti 3 Pump Non-fat Light Whip 2 scoop Matcha Green Tea Latte." Orders Niel, a regular at my cozy starbucks at exit 6. Handed to him with a smile, he thanks our team of baristas, leaving us a dollar in the tip jar. But many people believe, especially in this economy, that they will have to give up this trendy habit of getting a latte, machiatto, or frapuccino, thus creating the "latte factor".
This "latte factor" is a little myth that many believe in during times where money is tight. People are more apt to give up little, unnessesary expenses in life, like picking up lunch on a work break, or getting a daily cup of coffee. Starbucks has deffinitly struggled during this time, but many people do not know that this isn't just a coffee shop, it's a routine stop in many people's life journeys. Things change in our lives everyday, and there is not always that one thing that stay constant with us. Something even as small as a cup of coffee everyday on your route to work is a constant in ones life, something that many of us need in order to stay positive through a tough time.
Many think, "Why would I spend $4.oo a day on a drink?" Well, if it is that one thing you can always rely on, maybe you would think differently. A greeting as you enter the building, the same beverage that gets you through each day, and the smile of your barista taking care of your order is something many people overlook. Things change, people change, and life happens; but you should still be able to have that one thing in your life that can remind you that some things do stay the same. A cup of coffee may not seem like much, but for the reminder that some things will always be there, to me, it's worth it.
